signatories on the letter from the Dogwood Alliance are seemingly at odds with
the “scientists” on the USDA program review panel. Imagine that! I am left
wondering who has the “correct science” in this matter along with many the days.</font></p><font size="3">

</font><p class="MsoNormal"><font size="3">While I agree with the intent and largely with the viewpoints
espoused in the letter, there are two items I would like to interject if I may.
First, the whole idea that it is in any way efficient to use energy to
transport energy to then generate energy is ridiculous, yet not addressed, that
I could find anyway. Secondly, as a “non-scientist” I would put forth that when
properly managed and used as fuel in direct applications (not for the generation
of electricity) forests are a carbon neutral source of energy and when sourced as
locally as possible, the use of trees as fuel makes perfectly good sense to me.</font></p><font size="3">
