Thank you Penny, Yes, I totally agree. Absolutely. There is definitely the deal going on with keeping the corporation in power so it can grow, at any cost. Big Pharma, AMA, the likes of investment Corporations, ... even cobwebed brained doctors and brainwashed nurses.

Honestly though, I don't think it is only about the above power over issues.

As someone that has worked in the western medical model, my hands were tied due to laws,
institutional protocols and looming liability.

I know many doctors and nurses that want to learn and are learning about herbs, and, with their herbal practitioners as their teachers. Such as my teacher Kate Gilday, in the first and second year programs I attended, there were at least 3 nurses amongst the 12 of us. David Winston of Herbalist and Alchemist always has nurse and doctor graduates. Every year at the Womans Herbal Conference and every other year at the International Herb Symposium we (my sister-colleague Bonnie Kavanagh and I) have more and more nurse attendees that come to our Herbal Nurses Forum to discuss and collaborate how we integrate herbs and natural therapies into our practice. This is a challenge ...

If one looks on line under Nurse Practice Act or the medical practice laws (each state has their own), nursing and medical professionals are limited as to what they can and can't do in the realm of herbs and natural therapies. Some states are more
limiting than others.

My support goes out to anyone who is trying to integrate herbs in the institutions.
I know its happening. I remember being there trying to do it myself.
The people want it.
The nurses want it.
The physical therapists, respiratory therapists, etc want it.
So do a fair number of doctors too.

Thanks for the story. I love it.
Didn't realize that about persimmon leaf. Thank you.

Blessings,
associated with heart drugs

Hello all,
I understand the importance of educating and
informing the public and our clients (I'm a practicing herbalist and nurse)
about the mixing of herbs and drugs.
And true, St Johnswort is an herb we
need to be cautious about if we choose to combine with medicine. In and of
itself SJW is generally safe. But mix it with other medications (there's at
least a dozen or more it changes and maybe even some herbs too) it will cause
changes to the medications and or the person.

Yet this doesn't make it
an unsafe herb.

And its a fact that the practice of cardiology is a
highly refined medicine which surpasses possibly what most herbs
can do,
in the short term anyway.

However we can't agree with the way the
western medical practitioners are going about researching herbs and educating
the public about herbs. They're instilling fear and pointing out that its the
herbs that are the causative problem. Making blanket statements and testing
isolated compounds rather than the whole herb.

Is there a remedy for
this type of behavior? :-)

Yep.

Educate not only the
general public and our clients but these medical people too.
Publishing
our points in local papers, medical journals, and the like.

Easier
said then done. But not impossible.

Blessings
