Last year, 56 more acres were cleared with chaisaws. This year, the third year of the project, the Corps of Engineers has decided that they don't have money for goats. This will mean that they will likely spray poison there, as they have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on this project and are not likely to allow the invasives to take back over.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></div><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; ">If you would rather goats were promoted for this kind of environmental remediation, over poison, we would be thankful for a call and or email to the USACE in Albuquerque. 505-342-3100. <span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></div><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; ">Spread the word, also, as the Corps has been very sensitive to public pressure in the past.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></div><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; ">There are many good people working within the USACE who would also appreciate support for this project. Government money is tight right now, but priorities will be met.
