and Communities (the Endowment) was established in 2006<b> to <i>work collaboratively
with partners in the public and private sectors to advance systemic, transformative
and sustainable change for the health and vitality of the nation’s working
forests and forest-reliant communities</i>. </b>As a first step,
the Endowment has contracted with the Consortium for Community Forestry
to compile information about community-based forestry (CBF) initiatives
around the U.S.</font>
