Science Forum has served as an important venue for communication between
FDA scientists and stakeholders on scientific topics of vital regulatory
concern. At this exclusive annual event, scientists from all disciplines
and organizational components of FDA meet with their counterparts from
industry and academia to share data, knowledge, and ideas on the science-based
mission of the Agency. FDA is the first scientific agency in the world
to have been transformed into a full-fledged regulatory agency. At the
agency's Centennial and at the Science Forum, it is important to revisit
that investment in regulatory science and communicate not only the tangible
results of that investment, but highlight the process by which that original
commitment to high quality scientific achievement will translate into the

FDA" will allow the public to get answers from top FDA scientists

Dr, Harvey Fineberg, President of the Institute of Medicine, on the
importance to your health of being an informed consumer. Dr. Janet
Woodcock, FDA Deputy Commissioner for Operations, will then moderate a
panel of FDA scientists who will answer, in plain language, consumer questions
on the many health products that FDA oversees. The audience will
hear the answers to the top questions that consumers ask the FDA and then
have the opportunity to ask questions from the floor. </font>
