The American Botanical Council, American Herbal Pharmacopoeia, and the
University of Mississippi's National Center for Natural Products Research
(ABC-AHP-NCNPR) have partnered to host the Botanical Adulterants Prevention
Program - or BAPP - to educate members of the herbal and dietary supplement
industry about ingredient and product adulteration.

An international consortium of nonprofit professional organizations,
analytical laboratories, research centers, industry trade associations,
industry members, and other parties with interest in herbs and medicinal
plants, the program advises industry, researchers, health professionals,
government agencies, the media, and the public about the various challenges
related to adulterated botanical ingredients sold in commerce. With the
endorsement or financial support of more than 200 U.S. and international
parties, to date, the program has published 45 extensively peer-reviewed
articles, Botanical Adulterants Bulletins, LGDs, and Botanical Adulterants
Monitor e-newsletters. Focal species have included U.S. native plants such
as arnica, black cohosh, goldenseal, and saw palmetto. All of the program’s
publications are freely available on the program’s website.
