The 2-year assessment will focus on the western continental United States and incorporate information from assessments of other U.S. regions, as available, towards the goal of a nationwide perspective. *The National Academies are seeking suggestions for individuals to serve as members of the assessment committee*. The members of the committee who will be selected by the President of the National Academy of Sciences will serve as unpaid volunteers (travel is supported), and will carry out information gathering and synthesis with the help of a dedicated Academies staff team. The significant workload includes active participation in meetings, phone calls, and webinars, and writing, reviewing, and revising the committee?s reports. Expertise is sought in the following categories: native seed demand and supply, ecological restoration, landscape architecture, native plant conservation, genetics and ecology, seed procurement, seed collection, seed extractories, permitting and certification, seed production and handling, seed storage, agricultural/conservation economics, survey methodology, and network sampling. *Submit suggestions for committee members through Nov. 30, 2018 via the following link:* https://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/4663108/Call-for-Nominations-An-Assessment-of-Native-Seed-Needs-and-Capacities To be notified of future announcements and the progress of the study, send an email with contact information to seedneeds at nas.edu. The National Academies is a private, not-for-profit organization established by Congress and President Lincoln in 1863 to provide independent, unbiased, authoritative advice to the nation on matters of science, engineering, and public health. -- Leah Prescott Bureau of Land Management Plant Conservation & Restoration Program Data Coordinator 202-912-7232 National Seed Strategy for Rehabilitation and Restoration Plant Conservation Alliance Seeds of Success -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
