THE SPACE IN BETWEEN PROJECT

Date/time: Sept. 22; 12-1PM ET

Location: U.S. Botanic Garden * 100 Maryland Avenue, SW, Washington, DC
20024

What it’s all about? Space in Between is a community collaborative project
that centers on promotion of cultural dialogues on themes related to
community, immigration, labor practices, and cultural identity. It uses
traditional sewing and embroidery techniques from Los Tenangos, Hidalgo,
Mexico. This embroidered narrative element is combined in creative ways on
the surface of desert plant sculptures. Join artist Margarita Cabrera as
she discusses the fabrication of this project and the conversations it
produces.
