[MPWG] Sagebrush: A prescription for new medicine?

Interesting research below. A quick check of Duke’s Phytochemical and
ethnobotanical Databases (http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/duke/ethnobot.pl)
and the University of Michigan’s Native American Ehtnobotany Database (
http://herb.umd.umich.edu/herb/search.pl) tell me this researcher may find
something.

I hope that this NIH-funded research also considers conservation issues –
both of the plant itself and the animal that's named after it – not just
its chemical constituents. --Patricia



SAGEBRUSH: A PRESCRIPTION FOR NEW MEDICINE? With garden shears and some
help from wildlife, a College of Idaho researcher might turn up some new
medicine

Carolyn Dadabay is a drug prospector.



She's searching for chemical compounds that will boost the effectiveness of
medicines like those used to attack cancer cells in chemotherapy.



She hopes to find them among the millions of sagebrush plants dotting the
desert of Southern Idaho. Wild animals are her guide.
