I am glad to inform you that Alain Touwaide, IPMT Scientific Director
and Historian of Sciences at the Smithsonian Institution, will deliver a
talk on THURSDAY, OCTOBER 28TH, 2010, 6:30-8:00PM, at the Dorothea
Leonhardt Lecture Hall, Fort Worth Botanic Gardens [1].

The illustrated
lecture is organized by BRIT - Botanical Research Institute of Texas [2],
and it will introduce the fascinating world of ancient medicinal plants as
found in remarkable books and writings, plant specimens, and instruments
and techniques. He will bring together archaeology and history, botany and
medicine, and also the most advanced laboratory techniques of DNA
sequencing, so as to enlighten ancient science and make it available for
new applications. A life devoted to revisiting the ancient literature
containing the formulas for medicines of the Ancient World has convinced
Alain Touwaide that old herbs still have a future and can provide the basis
of efficacious medicines.

Clich HERE [3] to get more details about the
lecture.

Thanks for your attention and for circulating this news among
colleagues and students.

Best,

Emanuela Appetiti
