Certified Organic Wild Crops Workshop and Field Day, Salem Mo May 7, 2008






Goods From The Woods, A Wild Crops farm will host a field day in 
conjunction with the National Network of Forest Practitioners at their 
organic processing facility just north of Salem, Mo.  The field day will 
cover, identifying profitable wild harvests, wild harvest sustainability 
documentation, processing requirements for organic certification, value 
added processing for wild harvests.  George and Penny Frazier, the 
facilities owners worked with other producers to prepare a successful 
Sustainable Agriculture Research Experiment Grant.  Part of the purpose 
of the grant was used to  help document the profitability of wild 
harvests. Some of the results of that project will be reported in the 
field day.  The field day is also part of the agenda for the Nation 
Network of Forest Practitioner's (NNFP), a group dedicated to expanding 
rural enterprise in a sustainable manner. 

Scholarship funds are available for farmers wishing to attend the annual 
meeting or the field day the Wild Crops Farm.  Those wishing more
