CONFERENCE ON CLIMATE CHANGE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
April 24 - 25, 2008 DoubleTree Hotel, Milwaukee City Center, Milwaukee, WI
Conference Description
This conference will discuss the global issue of climate change in the
regional context of Wisconsin and the Great Lakes. It will feature
presentations and discussions across many disciplines, focusing on
challenges associated with climate changes for the region and potential
practical solutions. The conference aims to reach a broader audience
beyond the academic community, including business, government,
and other community members that are involved in activities relevant to
climate change. Over 30 speakers will present their perspective
in many different themed sessions. Academics, government, and business
representatives from many different disciplines, including
architecture, biology, education, chemistry, civil engineering, economics,
energy, geography, health sciences, information management,
urban planning, water resources, and others will present their insights
based on current research and experiences relating to climate change
and sustainable development. This conference is being sponsored by the
University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee Global Climate Change
and Sustainable Development Initiative. Over the last two years, the
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) has formed a campus-
wide group of faculty and staff experts in disciplines varying from
biology to economics to engineering and urban planning. This group is
united in its commitment to develop a campus-wide, interdisciplinary
institute for the study of global climate change and sustainable
development.
