A Social Scientist position is now being advertised at the USGS Fort 
Collins Science Center.  The vacancies can be found by clicking on the

Major duties for the position are as follows:
It is the responsibility of the incumbent as Social Scientist to plan, 
develop, and conduct studies in the fields of social psychology, 
perception of environment, and natural resource management to address 
social factors affecting natural resource and hazards management and 
policy; studies measure human factors associated with natural resource 
management, including individual and community knowledge, attitudes, 
norms, preferences, perceptions, and communication about natural resource 
management; examine existing data sets maintained by the Policy Analysis 
and Science Assistance Branch to identify opportunities for further data 
analysis that will support the work of Federal land managers and analyze 
or direct technicians in analyzing data from reimbursable projects that 
the incumbent may develop; serve as author or coauthor of manuscripts 
resulting from the data analysis; identify research funding opportunities; 
serve as a peer reviewer for manuscripts and reports prepared by 
colleagues; and direct the work of technician and graduate students in the 
collection of data pursuant to approved study plans.
