Dear Members:

I am excited to announce that Eric Jones will be giving a lunchtime talk
next week (see details below). If any of you happen to be in the VA-area
and are interested in attending, please stop by.

**If you are not a federal employee you will need to be escorted into the

About the speaker:
Eric Jones, an Environmental Anthropologist at The Institute for Culture
and Ecology (IFCAE; Portland, Oregon), will present his findings on
interviews conducted with harvesters throughout the United States as it
relates to biodiversity conservation.

What are NTFPs?
NTFPs, or non-timber forest products, are the non-wood materials that
people extract from the forest. The mushrooms you eat in gourmet
restaurants. The wreath you hang on your door for the holidays. The
greens that often accompany that bouquet of flowers. That ginseng in your
tea. Learn about these and more NTFPs at: <http://www.ifcae.org/ntfp/>.

About IFCAE:
For several years, IFCAE (http://www.ifcae.org/) has worked with NTFP
harvesters to explore their role in stewardship and conservation. Examples
of their work and publications can be viewed at: <
http://www.ifcae.org/publications/index.html#PLP-Publications>.
