Dear Medicinal Plant People,
The 3rd annual Catskill Mountain Ginseng/Medicinal Herbs festival held on
October 10 this year in the village of Catskill NY was a huge success. More
than 400 people attended one or more of the 5 educational workshops offered
throughout the day. Dr Jim Duke's lecture and recital was standing room
only! Hundreds of others simply visited with the vendors, enjoyed the
beautiful fall foliage from the Hudson river, took a day line cruise or
treated themselves to a Shiatsu massage! All the ginseng and herb vendors
had a great day and all promise to return next year. Ginseng dealers from
Maryland, Tennessee, upstate, central and down state NY City sold all sorts
of dried and fresh ginseng from field cultivated to wild, including value
added products. Several herb practitioners and growers attended and have
already planned to have a selling booth next year. Next year's festival
will again be on the Sunday of Columbus Day weekend and thanks to this
year's success it will be substantially bigger and better! Mark your new
calenders for October 9, 2005! My very special thanks goes out to the
creator and readers of this list serve who helped to spread the word. It
surely did make a difference. I am already looking for speakers for next
year on topics related to herbal medicine or growing and marketing
medicinal herbs.
