Dear Sir or Madam,

The East Bay Chapter of CNPS will award five scholarships of $1200 each to
worthy students working in botany, ecology, conservation, and horticulture.

The deadline for applications is April 15, 2004. It would be a great help
to the Chapter and to your students if you could post this information in
your department or workplace.

Thank you so much!

Sandy McCoy
East Bay Chapter CNPS
Grants Committee

Here is the text of the announcement:

2004 Scholarships

Each year, the East Bay Chapter of CNPS grants scholarships to worthy
students. The money to support these grants is raised by volunteers who
work on the Chapters plant sale. Recent scholarships have supported
students working in horticulture, plant evolution, park management,
ecosystem management, conservation biology, plant ecology, plant
physiology, and plant systematics.

Scholarships

Our chapter will award five scholarships of $1200 each to undergraduate or
graduate students in botany, horticulture, and related fields interested in

working with California native plants. An outstanding candidate will be
awarded the Myrtle Wolf Scholarship.

Preference is given for students working in, or working with plants in,
Alameda and Contra Costa counties, although other applications will be
considered.

Application Deadline is April 15, 2004.
