[MPWG] Use of Jatropha

Greetings to the group,
      In India Jatropha is under promotion as bio-diesel crop.It is a native of tropical America.I am eager to know whether it is in use for the same purpose in tropical Amercia or not?If not, why ? In India its mass scale plantation is becoming a potential threat to biodiversity.
