invasive plants. I agree that many 'hardy' plants in my book are considered
invasive in some areas, and I could have been more specific in those cases
where a serious problem exists. Your examples about the most problematic would
certainly make the book more useful and I'll have to consider your suggestion
if there is an opportunity to make revisions in the future.</span></font><o:p></o:p></p>

font-family:Arial'> I did, in fact, consider placing a symbol
against a potentially invasive plant, with a footnote, but my publisher didn't
like it because it complicates matters with foreign distribution. In <st1:country-region
w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">New Zealand</st1:place></st1:country-region>,
for example, where the book has been well received, Russell lupines have
been declared an invasive species, and even in my township a local invasive
plants group has placed bamboo on the list even though there are very few
stands of it. They also debated a long time whether to include wayside
daylilies before deciding that although they were invasive their addition to
the list would be too controversial. </span></font><o:p></o:p></p>
