<DIV>The Hawaiian legislature adopted - over the governnor's veto - a measure imposing a small fee on every shipping container that enters the port. I believe the funds will be used to support inspection and early detection & rapid response.</DIV>

<DIV>The Hawaiian Department of Agriculture has adopted a regulation restricting imports of plants and plant parts in the Myrtaceae family in order to prevent introduction of a more virulent form of the ohia (eucalyptus) rust fungus.
