open announcement for which all qualified US

vacancy announcement may apply. Special

(CTAP/ICTAP).<BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><B>Additional
Duty Location Info</B><BR><BR>National Park
Service, Lake Mead National Recreation Area,
Resource Management Division, Lake Mead Exotic
Plant Management Team and Southern Nevada
Riparian Restoration Team, Boulder City, Nevada.
<BR><BR>Boulder City population is approximately
15,000 and is 23 miles south of Las Vegas
Nevada. Winter climate is mild and summer heat
relieved by air-conditioning. Rentals are
usually available, but not abundant. Nevada has
no state income tax and there are unlimited
recreational opportunities.<BR><BR><BR><B>Major
Duties</B><BR><BR>This position is in the
Division of Resource Management. Performs as a
member of the Lake Mead Exotic Plant Management
Team and the Southern Nevada Riparian
Restoration Team which are field crews working
in riparian restoration and exotic plant removal
involving the use of chainsaw and herbicide
application and native plant re-vegetation.
<BR><BR>At the GS-4 grade level, employee is a
crewmember performing exotic plant control
involving the use of herbicides and chainsaws.
<BR><BR>At the GS-5 grade level: In addition to
the GS-4 level duties, the employee makes
educated decisions and/or use troubleshooting
abilities to make decisions in the field without
the presence of direct supervision when working
as a single resource. Is expected to collect
data using a GPS unit and must be able to
identify exotic plants and native plants within
the field. May be responsible for handling
details regarding vehicle care, pesticides,
spray equipment, chainsaws, and/or fieldwork
documentation. <BR><BR>The duties of this
position require the employee to be in good
physical condition. Considerable time will be
spent in driving, hiking in hazardous terrain,
and using tools and equipment. Field time will
subject the employee to extreme weather
conditions ranging from well over 100 degree F
in the summer to below freezing in the winter.
Occasional time will also be spent in an office
environment reviewing files, data, and
transcribing information. Mental alertness,
stability, and tact are required. This position
requires extended travel away from home
including camping in backcountry conditions.
Flying in fixed wing aircraft and helicopters is
possible.<BR><BR><BR><B>Qualifications
Required</B><BR><BR>Applicants must meet the
Office of Personnel Management (OPM)
Qualification Standards for General Schedule
Positions. These standards are available in any
Federal Personnel Office for review and also
located at www.opm.gov/qualifications web site.
<BR>Experience for GS-4: 6 months of GENERAL
experience and 6 months of SPECIALIZED
experience OR 2 years above high school with
courses related to the occupation. Applicants
who have one year of SPECIALIZED Experience are
not required to have general experience.
Equivalent combinations of successfully
completed post-high school education and
experience are also qualifying.
<BR><BR>Education For GS-4: Successful
completion of 2 years of study that included at
least 12 semester hours in any combination of
scientific or technical courses such as biology,
chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal
husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or
mathematics. At least 6 semester hours of
courses must be directly related to the position
to be filled. <BR><BR>Experience and Education
for GS-5: One year of specialized experience
equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level; or
successful completion of a full 4-year course of
study leading to a bachelor’s degree with major
study or at least 24 semester hours in any
combination of courses such as biology,
chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal
husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or
mathematics. At least 6 semester hours of
courses must have been directly related to the
position to be filled. <BR><BR>OR
<BR><BR>Equivalent combinations of successfully
completed post-high school education and
experience are also qualifying. If education is
used to meet specialized experience
requirements, then such education must include
courses directly related to the work of the
position. Only education in excess of the first
60 semester hours of a course of study leading
to a bachelor’s degree is creditable toward
meeting the specialized experience requirements.
<BR><BR>General Experience is any type of work
that demonstrates the applicant’s ability to
perform the work of the position, or experience
that provided a familiarity with the subject
matter or processes of the broad subject area of
the occupation. <BR><BR>Specialized Experience -
experience that demonstrated/equipped the
applicant with the particular knowledge, skills
and abilities (KSA’s) necessary to perform
successfully the duties of this position and
that is typically in or related to the work of
the position to be filled (see Major Duties and
KSA’s). Applicants total work experience and
training must show enough competence to perform
the duties and the knowledge, skills, and
abilities to indicate ability to satisfactorily
perform the duties of the position.
<BR><BR>Training: Completion of appropriate
training such as inservice training programs,
training acquired while serving in the armed
forces, and government-sponsored developmental
training programs will be allowed credit on a
month-for-month basis, generally through the
GS-5 level. Such training meets general or
specialized experience requirements depending

number of hours/days in attendance along with

To Bring to This Job</B><BR><BR>CONDITIONS OF
EMPLOYMENT:<BR>Work is performed outdoors, often
under adverse weather conditions. Work requires
frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing,

requires prolonged standing and walking over a
rough and uneven terrain. Work requires lifting
