ABOUT THE PRESENTATION: Denver Botanic Gardens plays a key role in plant conservation within Colorado. Thirty years of demographic study have allowed us to contribute to federal and local species assessments and helped inform land management decisions. Our seed collection efforts in partnership with the Center for Plant Conservation have resulted in the safeguarding of many of our state?s rarest plants. Our natural history collections document the diversity and changing landscape of plants and fungi in the region. Our work impacts not only local conservation efforts but feeds up to the Global Biodiversity Framework and the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation. By collecting robust, standardized data that we make freely available, we contribute to conservation plans at varying scales furthering our global knowledge of biodiversity status and needs.
