Responsibilities:
This position is located in a National Park Service organization. The purpose of the position is to perform a wide variety of complex biological science technical support functions. Principle functions are noted below; specific program areas in which the incumbent may be involved are attached to the end of this document.
* Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Supervisory Invasive Species Biologist, the incumbent performs invasive plant control and monitoring in Everglades National Park. Ancillary duties include: data management and summarization; training and oversight of interns; and participation in early detection of and rapid response to new invasive populations.
* Monitors invasive plant populations and treatment efficacy.
* Controls invasive plant populations using herbicides and mechanical tools.
* Collects and manages monitoring and treatment data, ensuring that data are organized and maintained for long-term use.
* Participates in early detection and rapid response activities for new invasive populations.
* Provides oversight to volunteers and interns working in the field.
