Exciting Graduate Fellowship Position available at Austin Peay State University (ASPU) for a taxonomic study of the Clematis reticulata complex, a group known to include at least 3 undescribed species.

2-years full graduate research assistantship at $18k stipend, funding for 10,000 miles of fieldwork across 20 states from New Mexico to Maryland and south to central Florida, funding for lodging and per diem and equipment/supplies. The successful candidate will work alongside one other grad student, who will work on a taxonomic revision of the Clematis viorna complex. This position is supported by Mt. Cuba Center botanical garden out of Delaware and as such it will allow for two weeks to spent at Mt. Cuba spending time with their staff. Mt. Cuba staff will also accompany the research group on some expeditions. A full set of living specimens will be collected for Mt. Cuba which will be transferred to their garden. APSU is becoming one of the go-to places in the Southeast for the study of floristics, rare communities, and plant taxonomy and have the Center of Excellence for Field Biology.
