Subject: Vermont Invasive Plant Coordinator: limited service position
opening

Please distribute this to others who may be interested:

This is to provide information about the limited service Invasive Plant
Coordinator (Forester I) position now under recruitment within the Vermont
Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation. The objective of the position
is to coordinate invasive plant management efforts within the Agency of
Natural Resources, as well as outside organizations and individuals.

The position has come into being thanks to several complementary grants,
including a privately funded grant obtained by The Nature Conservancy
expressly for this purpose, and a US Forest Service grant, focused
initially on invasive plants in Chittenden County, but whose objective
includes a sustainable invasives coordinator position for the state. Lake
Champlain Basin Program and Corps of Engineers funds for water chestnut
management will also help support the position. FPR’s Forest Health program
is providing a home for the position, although direction will also come
from other programs within ANR and The Nature Conservancy.

The position will be housed in Essex because of its initial focus on
Chittenden County and Lake Champlain, but the intent is to facilitate
invasive plant management statewide. It is currently scheduled to terminate
in 9/30/17, with the possibility to extend for the full three years.

The duties are at the Forester I level of responsibility, but will be
focused exclusively on invasive plants. They are expected to be very much
as in the job announcement, which is at

invasives.

· Complete required grant reports.

Applications need to be submitted to the VTHR website by 03/12/2015 .
