Forwarding this request for nominations in support of the Ecological
Society of America's efforts to ensure that U.S. scientists are engaged in
the recently established Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and
Ecosystem Services (IPBES; www.ipbes.net).

In a nutshell, IPBES is an independent intergovernmental body open to all
member countries of the United Nations intended to strengthen the role of
science in decision-making related to the conservation and sustainable
management of biodiversity and ecosystem services.

IPBES Expert Groups are being established to develop guidance in specific
areas of science. Nominees indicate whether they wish to be authors or
reviewers.

The the Ecological Society of America has posted detailed information about
IPBES on their website as well as details on the five Expert Groups for
which nominations are being sought.

Keep in mind that the initial meetings (which will be held between April
and June) will likely be planned as in-person meetings and authors would be
expected to attend. Initial meeting dates are also on ESA's webpage.

The Valentine's Day deadline for nominations is fast-approaching! Nominees
need to submit two things - 1) the nomination form and 2) a CV - as per the
email below.
