Florida Natural Areas Inventory (FNAI) is advertising an Invasive Plants
Coordinator position.  This should be a great job for someone interested in
facilitating our involvement with the invasive plant management community,
particularly the Florida Invasive Species Partnership and Florida’s
Cooperative Invasive Species Management Areas (CISMAs), as well as doing
plenty of field work.   Key qualifications are experience with invasive
plants and their management as well as some familiarity with GIS and
databases.  Applicants should also be comfortable presenting to groups and

*Responsibilities*

Conduct field work to identify invasive plant occurrence locations and
evaluate invasive plant management efforts.  Serve as the FNAI liaison with
the Florida Invasive Species Partnership and the Cooperative Invasive
Species Management Areas.  Coordinate efforts of other staff working on
invasive plant related projects.  Assist with projects to conduct rare
species or ecological surveys to build the FNAI databases.  Process
invasive plant data collected during field surveys and submitted by
cooperating agencies into standardized database formats, summarize this
data for reporting purposes, and use GIS to produce maps of occurrences.
Give presentations at a wide range of venues across the state including
meetings of the Florida Invasive Species Partnership, Cooperative Invasive
Species Management Areas, and the Florida Exotic Pest Plant Council, and
other public meetings.  Assist the Program Director developing funding
proposals to support FNAI's role in Invasive Species planning and data
management.  Substantial travel and fieldwork, sometimes in harsh
conditions, is required.



*Qualifications*

Bachelor's degree and three years of experience related to the duties of
this position; or a high school diploma/equivalent and seven years of
experience related to the duties of this position. (Note: a combination of
post high school education and experience equal to seven years)
Familiarity with Florida Invasive plant species & issues
Familiarity with the professional Invasive Plant Management Community
Ability to travel substantially
A valid Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain.

A Master's Degree.
