I have had no experience with M. giganteus but M. sinensis is very invasive
and very difficult to bring under control.

Subject: [APWG] miscanthus giganteus biofuel planting

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has experience/ concerns about the new programs
encouraging the mass plantings of Miscanthus giganteus for use as biofuel.
There are USDA and Farm Bureau programs offering subsidies for farmers to
plant this 'crop'. They are asking the local SWCD to help promote this
program.
I have some concern about the long term sterility of this plant and the
difficulty of removing it if it becomes invasive - or even at the end of its
value as a cash crop.
Thanks for any input.
