Are you singing the blues?
Too many weeds, too much heat, too many threats, too little support, too much for
one person to accomplish for your natural areas?
Then come and share an upbeat and energizing melody of ideas, science and
practical know-how with your colleagues in Nashville!
Tune into symposia with over one-hundred invited experts on topics that are
important to you. In addition to invasive species and climate change, the
session topics range from identifying, protecting and managing karst, barrens,
and freshwater natural areas, to conservation planning using new, exciting
partner projects such as LandScope (LandScope America Preview | Home) and the
Protected Areas Database-U.S. Design Project (www.protectedlands.net).
Meet with your local, state and federal agency, and land trust associates to
share your successes at round tables and sessions especially designed for you.
Then clog or paddle along with us on a field trip to some of Tennessee's most
spectacular natural areas.
This conference has something for everyone!

Natural Areas Revival In Music City: Tuning Into A
Changing Climate And Biological Invasion
The 2008 Natural Areas Conference strikes a chord on
Tuesday afternoon, October 14, opening with the
plenary session at the historic War Memorial
Auditorium.
Wednesday and Friday will provide a diverse program
with 52 sessions and over 110 invited speakers
providing symposia, training opportunities, and
forums. Also included are contributed paper sessions
and posters.
Thursday features interactive field trips and
workshops to natural areas in Middle Tennessee and
the Cumberland Plateau. On Thursday night our annual
Awards banquet will be held at the Ryman Auditorium,
also known as the Grand Ole Opry and the official
birthplace of bluegrass music.
The conference also features professional meetings,
roundtables, pre- and post-conference field trips,
plus social networking events and terrific music.
The timing of the Conference couldn't be better.
Fall is peak foliage time in Tennessee. More than
400 species of deciduous trees paint the fall scenes
of Tennessee's landscape, from the Mississippi River
to the Great Smoky Mountains. It's a great time to
visit and explore state parks and natural areas
(some of our field trip destinations!).
Join us for an informative, rewarding (and colorful)
experience. This is one you don't want to miss!
