Dear All,

The annual weeds that have been introduced to California, compared to the
original native understory, puts about a 40-fold increase in summertime
flammable biomass on the land.

The original native understory flammable biomass is equal to putting a
single sheet of newspaper on the land, whereas the exotics are like
pouring 350 gallons of gasoline per acre on the land.

No wonder we are always having problems with fires in the arid West?

Sincerely, Craig Dremann, Redwood City, CA (650) 325-7333
