Hello,
The Environmental Resource Manager, Claudia Thompson-Deahl, of the
Reston Association in Reston, Virginia, will be speaking to the Reston
Community Board about initiating a project that will remove the invasive
exotic plants from the landscape beds around the recreational
facilities. Many Board members are having difficulty understanding why
these plant species, including Burning Bush, Mahonia, Bradford Pears and
others, are a problem. Claudia would like to have as much supportive
evidence for why it is imperative that we remove invasive exotic plants
from the landscape beds.
It would be useful to list and describe any government or
non-governmental organizations throughout the U.S. that are implementing
projects to remove invasive exotic species from landscapes. If there are
any sources that would give me this type of information or if anyone on
this list serve knows of such projects, please forward this information
to me. So as to not overwhelm others with e-mail, please write me at
patricia at reston.org or call me at the number below.
Thank you very much. I appreciate the time and consideration.
