We will have 3 concurrent breakout discussion groups at this workshop, so
please enter all applicable fields when you register:
Sorry, but once the tickets are GONE, we're at Max capacity!!!
The topics are:
Cooperative Weed Management Areas.
This session will allow managers and biologists to join in a discussion of
how to join in a growing network of natural areas managers and
conservation-minded landowners. The management areas allows groups to link
with one another to share resources and strategies for our landscape-level
problems with invasive plants and animals.
Exploring the Needs, Sharing What You Know (plant and animal interests)
This session is for field application- ask questions of other biologists,
researchers, etc what to do when you see something on your property or is
someone is collecting specimens. According to how the registration
questions get answered, we'll be able to know what the top concerns are
and if we need to, we'll divide this group between the plant and animal
interests.
Channeled Apple Snail: Where do we go from here?
Skip Snow will give a synopsis of their "Snail Roundups" at Shark Valley.
Tim Collins from FIU was studying the native Apple snail when he
discovered the exotic Channeled Apple snail (Pomacea insularum) in the
canal south of the Tamiami Trail and north of Shark Valley in May 2005!!
Tim will give a summary of our current knowledge regarding the
distribution of non-native Pomacea species in Florida.
Door prizes will be presented throughout the conference, with the last
one, the highlight of the day - a KAYAK donated by Chris Boland at
Saltwater Sports.
Sponsors have provided lunch at Rookery Bay, so you can enjoy learning
about the exotics plant and animals that will be displayed. There is no
cost for registration & Lunch will be provided thanks to our Sponsors and
Partners for this event!
