Equestrian trails, pedestrian trails, and ORV trails are a major source of
invasive species. The most important item in the budget for new trails is to
monitor and remove non-native invasive plants immediately to save
expenditures of major mechanical and chemical resources in subsequent years.
Monitoring and control is necessary in both Spring and Summer and will
probably not require herbicides. This maintenance work shall be continued
by the contractor until the project is managed by subsequent management
agencies.

Hi all,

We here in British Columbia, Canada have been part of a coalition of
organizations and government agencies putting together a series of
recommendations towards legislation regarding off-road vehicle (ATVs,
snowmobiles, dirt bikes) licensing and management on public lands.
One of the issues that has arisen, regarding the impact of off-road
vehicles on public lands, is the spread of invasive plants. I'm hoping
that some of you might be able to provide some info about any studies
that have looked at the link between off-road vehicle use and the
spread of invasives. Can you help?

Thanks,
