                             Cal-IPC Symposium 2005

                            "Prevention Reinvention:
Protocols, Information, and Partnerships to Stop the Spread of
                                Invasive Plants"

                                October 6-8, 2005
                                    CSU Chico

Join friends and colleagues at the California Invasive Plant
Council’s 14th Annual Symposium on the campus of Chico State
University! The Symposium is the state's biggest gathering of
wildland weed workers, and gives members an unparalleled opportunity
to exchange insights and approaches. This year's invited papers will
focus on the theme of prevention, with sessions on protocols and
practices for limiting weed movement, inventory and prediction
approaches aimed at stopping spread, and partnerships for early
detection and rapid response. Adding to the mix will be contributed
paper sessions, a poster session, working group meetings, and field
      trips.

CALL FOR PAPERS: Cal-IPC invites members of the wildland weed
community to submit abstracts for contributed paper sessions or the
poster session. We encourage talks and posters focusing on weed
biology, treatment techniques, control and restoration projects,
community-based efforts, and funding. Oral presentations are 12
minutes with 3 minutes for questions. Both oral and poster presenters
receive a discount on registration. Space for presenters is limited.
Submission guidelines at www.cal-ipc.org. Abstracts sent to
contributed sessions organizer Dan Gluesenkamp at
gluesenkamp at egret.org. Deadline is Friday, June 17.

CALL FOR SPONSORS: Each year organizations make donations as
Symposium sponsors as a way of supporting Cal-IPC's work. Sponsors
can receive space in the exhibit hall, mention in the program packet,
and other benefits. For levels and benefits, see www.cal-ipc.org. The
poster/exhibitor session scheduled in this year's agenda will
encourage the 300 attendees to visit sponsor exhibits of interest.
Exhibit space is limited, and early arrangements are recommended.

REGISTRATION: Registration materials and program details will be
available this summer at www.cal-ipc.org. Registration fees will be
approximately $200. A limited number of reduced-rate scholarships
      will be available.

We look forward to seeing you there!
