[APWG] Hand pulling Iris pseudacorus question.

Can someone tell me if hand pulling IRPS is like digging out introduced blackberries? i.e. for every one you pull six return.

I have a wetland with a Federally listed species so herbicides are not an option.  The thick above-ground rhizomes can easily be pulled at this time of year, (as the wetland is dry) though it leaves many of the rootlets behind.  Please reply directly to my e address, as I'm not signed up.
